Getting Child Developmental Needs
Met as an Adult
If you were severely abused and/or neglected as a child, most likely your natural developmental needs were not adequately met during that time.
"The best news is that since the child was wounded through neglect and learning deficits, we can learn to get the child's needs met as an adult.  We can develop skills in all areas of human interaction.  It's not a question of unlearning; it's a question of learning things for the first time."
--Kip Flock
According to John Bradshaw, we can "learn a variety of exercises that will give you corrective experiences.  Corrective work is the most hopeful aspect of inner child work...These exercises work best if you apply them to the areas where you were most neglected."
Please click on the developmental stage below in which you feel your inner child got stuck due to abuse and/or neglect during that time of your childhood:
Infancy
Toddler
Pre-School
School Age
Adolecent/Little Teenager
12/18/06 -- It has been a while since I have done these exercises myself, so I am going to work through them and post the instructions as they are fresh in my mind over the next week.  Please check back often as I post these detailed, but important and powerful pages.  If the page is underlined and highlighted, that page is up and running and ready for your review.
